What should I expect or do after my
wax? Avoid sunlight and exfoliant products for up to 72
hours after waxing as the skin can be more succeptible to bacterial agents and
extremely sensitive. Keep your freshly waxed area extremely clean. Be careful
with anything your skin comes into contact with: fresh bedsheets, clothes,
towels, etc. are all recommended. Most of the population's skin can become
irritated after waxing. Redness, bumpiness, itchiness and irritation are all
common side effects after hair removal. Most clients become more tolerable and
less reactive with each service; however, if you develop fever or have any
other side effects that do not seem normal please contact your physician
immediately. Waxing is extremely safe for the population masses; however, as
with any service, there can be some side effects and effective post-appointment
care are required. Using exfoliants after approximately 72 hours are highly
recommend to prevent in-grown hairs which can also be red, irritated and bumpy.
It is very important to find qualified practitioners with safe and sanitary
practices similar to what our spa has to offer. |

Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What makes Spa Newbury waxing
services superior? Sanitation sanitation sanitation.
We do not double dip our sticks or re-use our wax! All roller-heads are
disposable and changed between every client. We also use premium professional
waxes which makes a significant difference in hair
removal.
How does it feel? All clients
react and feel different towards hair removal. Our practitioners are
extraordinarily sensitive to ensure your experience will be as comfortable and
effective as possible. Hair removal will never feel as good as a massage - but
it will make a difference to find practitioners like us who use quality
products and practices.
Is there anything I should not
do? It is not recommended to exercise or have a hot
shower right before your service as this can increase the blood flow and make
the wax areas more "sensitive" . Anyone allergic or highly sensitive to bees
should not "wax". Do not shave before your wax appointment. Please reschedule
your wax appointment if you do not have at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair growth
48 hours prior to your appointment.
What should I do for
my service? Be sure to arrive for your service clean and on
time. Skin that is prone to break-outs or ingrown hairs will do best under
sanitary circumstances. Also - tardiness may result in a less thorough service.
Our practitioners need the full appointment time allocated for a proper
service. Long hair (longer than 1 inch) will need to be trimmed prior to waxing
and could increase the price of your service. Your practitioner will do this
for you although you can keep the cost of your service down if you arrive
trimmed and ready to go!
How long will it last?
Hair regrowth also varies amongst clients. This will depend on
your individual genetics and the frequency of your service. Most clients are
able to go three+ weeks before needing another service and then 4-8 weeks prior
to their next. Regular waxing regularly retards hair regrowth and makes it grow
back finer and thinner. Our regular clients can go up to two months between
service before the hair has fully grown back.
How long does
my hair have to be for service? There needs to be at least
1/4 to 1/2 inch of growth for the wax to grasp the hair and remove it. Hair
longer than one inch can be undesirable for waxing and may require extra time
or costs to have this trimmed. 1/4 inch of hair can be grown in anywhere from 5
days to 2 weeks for clients. There is large variable of hair growth from one
person to the next.
What does "+up" mean on the price
list? There is a difference in the amount of hair and size
of individual from person to person. If a client has an extraordinary amount of
hair or is extraordinarily large with a greater amount of surface area - then
they could be subjected to a larger charge than our minimal base prices. These
charges usually range anywhere from $5 to $20 additional.
Can I book an appointment for any wax service? No. We
unfortunately can no longer make single reservations for 10 minute appointments
at Spa Newbury. For example, one can book a brow wax with a facial appointment;
however, we are not able to schedule a brow wax by itself given the extremely
short nature of the appointment. Walk-ins are welcome anytime for all of our
waxing services although it is not guaranteed we will have an appointment
available. |
* Please arrive showered
for a Brazilian or Bikini wax. It is recommended that your hair not be longer
than 3/4 of an inch to receive the most efficient service possible.
